Will oil paint with lead give me cancer?

I just bought 2 tubes of white paint and it has a warning that both of them has lead in them. Do you have to consume the paint in order for it to cause cancer or can it happen in other ways too?Will oil paint with lead give me cancer?
Lead has to be ingested to cause lead poisoning. Now days paints have been formulated to be safer than their predisesors. I wouldn't worry about getting cancer. You have a greater chance of getting skin cancer from the sun than you do from painting!Will oil paint with lead give me cancer?
The others are correct -- don't eat it or paint yourself with it -- it causes brain damage (not cancer).





But they missed something -- what do you plan to paint? if you are making artwork for the wall, you are going to be fine. If you are painting toys or furniture or anything that will be given to children, then STOP -- children are most likely to be harmed by things painted with this stuff. This is in part because their brains are developing and in part because they put everything in their mouths.
You can get cancer just by being in the room with your paint. It's probably too late for you already. Do you really think that a store would sell you something that will inevitably result in you getting cancer? Sheesh. I'm gonna go smoke a cigarette.
lead has to be consumed to be harmful I believe, but even then small amounts wont kill u. and besides, street lights are supposed to give u cancer too but people still go out every night right? life sucks when u constantly worry about what could potentially harm u.

Lead doesn't cause cancer, it causes lead poisoning. Don't eat the paint or smear it all over yourself and you'll be fine.

I've been using oil paint for years, so have many many other artists. How many of them have you heard that of died of cancer via oil paint?
Almost anything can give you cancer. Don't worry about it.
