Oil paint??

can you use oil paints on water color paper?

or can you mix different kinds of paints together, like oil and acrylic?

just wonderingOil paint??
Don't mix oil and acrylic because they don't mix because of their chemical structure. You can paint oil over acrylics, most preprimed store bought canvas is primed with acrylic gesso.

Painting oil on water color paper is no problem , if Degas could do his ballet dancers on water color paper so can you.Oil paint??
why on water color paper??u can use canson as ex (cheap)
Oil paint does not do well on watercolor paper. You can not mix watercolors and oils, but you could finish out an acrylic painting with oils. I did it one time, and the painting is hanging in my living room right now. I have received many compliments on it. Grams
You cannot mix oils and acrylics together, although some artists have been known to do a background for a painting using acrylics, and then do oil work over the background. A good example is Boris Vallejo, the famous fantasy artist. He does his background art in acrylics, then his human figures on the background in oils.

I would say oils on watercolor paper would not work well due to the capillary action of the paper, which would suck the oil out of the pigments, leaving them dryer than they should be, not to mention causing unsightly stains on the paper. You CAN use acrylics on watercolor paper, using many techniques, including impasto, underlay/overlay or wash, and a watercolor style.

But, if you are using true oils, you'll only want to paint on canvas, canvas board, or panels such as Masonite that has been pre-coated with gesso.
Hi,

you can use oils on Colourfix paper (which is a watercolour one), but only because it's primed with an acrylic ground.

Kind regards,
