Can i add gesso to oil paint?

I know you can mix gesso with acrylic, but can it be mixed with oil paints as well? Can i add gesso to oil paint?
No. Gesso is water based. It may be applied underneath a layer of oil. No water based material should be mixed into or applied on top of oil. It will peel off in sheets eventually. Can i add gesso to oil paint?
Gesso is like a primer, applied to the canvas before painting. It is not to be MIXED with anything. The gesso is to be given the time to dry before applying paint to the canvas.

My suggestion to you would be to find a book with what I refer to as TERMINOLOGY....and learn the ins and outs of art. Another thing you might do is find a good art supply book online and order it. There is a lot of information in these books as well as products that you could use for art projects. That is....IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT ARTWORK...Otherwise, it would be a complete waste of money....Good luck, happy learning and GOD bless....
