Will Hairspray help oil paint dry faster?

I painted a picture for a 7 year old girl and I don't want her to get it all messed up.Will Hairspray help oil paint dry faster?
no. it either has to dry on its own or you have to use an oil paint ';dryer'; available at the hobby craft store where you buy the oil paints.

to avoid smears when the kid takes it home, lay it inside a cardboard gift box (those cheap foldup ones you buy in packages of three or so at Walmart or Dollar store) and put on the lid. instruct the kid not to flip the box or take off the lid tillshe gets home. then to take off the lid at home and leave it in the box till it gets dry.

why not use acrylics instead? Will Hairspray help oil paint dry faster?
Next time if you use a tiny bit of Liquin in your oils they will dry much faster.
Hairspray is for drawings, if you can't afford regular spray fixative. It won't do a thing to fix or seal any sort of painting. And it REALLY won't help an oil painting to dry faster. It will only put a coat of incompatible material on the surface. The paint needs oxygen in order to dry, and you'll only be blocking the oxygen.

You will have to let it dry on its own, and it will take time. Tell the 7-year-old girl that she must not touch or move it for a few more days at the very least. If it's very thick, very wet paint, it might require weeks to dry.

In future, if you are painting something that has to dry in a hurry and be handed over to a small child, use acrylic. That dries quickly and turns into plastic.
NO! It contains lots of horrible ingredients like alcohol that will thin and crack the paint.

Hair spay should only be used for carbon based pictures like charcoal or pencil鈥?.and even then with caution
