Is there any water based paint that will stick to oil paint?

Get some Kilz Primer and paint over the oil paint. Wait for it to dry and knock yourself out with the water based paint. Is there any water based paint that will stick to oil paint?
a product called KILZ might,,,use the water based kilz,,comes in only white,,,it's designed to be a sealant paint,,,I highly recommend this product when you are trying to cover up smells or unsightliness.

Good luck!Is there any water based paint that will stick to oil paint?
I paint, every day of my life, and at best, the results will be eradic. Certainly a prime over, will allow that. Kilz and Zinzer both make decent products to achieve what you want.

I believe you realize DRY already,,, The issue isn't so much will latex cover Dry Oil base, but more will be the issue of adhering, and staying applied. I'm remediating a large commercial building. There are dozens of offices with huge Fire doors to each. The building has a statndard, uniform beige color throughout, and the doors were initially painted in an oil base for more durability. Somewhere along the way, someone decided that touchups were needed, and painted over the doors in the Latex based Beige. It now Peels in sheets, as no prep work was done before the fact.

you could use acrylics but you MUSThave the oil completely dry (which could take up to several several weeks) first... try acrylic first(which dries super fast) and the using oil if ( soundslike your e looking for a mixedmedia)

sorry i did not know if you were referring to a canvas painting or gener al contract/walla dn house painting
