How many chemicals does oil paint gloss home decorating paint contain?

how many are dangerous to the environment? In production and for use and how many chemicals are dangerous to mammals in the production (including chemicals released by production in factory)?

Is Wallpaper and wallpaper waste a better carbon footprint than paint (oil and emulsion)?

add hyperlinks and dissitations... haha. : )How many chemicals does oil paint gloss home decorating paint contain?
The number of chemical species in paint would be huge in larger and lesser amounts. Oils are very complex mixtures of many indvidual compounds both toxic and non toxic. Paint also contains pigments with are also very complex. Lead compounds used to be used but the main pigment in most white paint is titanium dioxide which is not toxic.

The oils are often renewable such as linseed oil so environmentally relatively neutral.

I think you should email the paint manufacturers for reassurances regarding the nature of the ingredients. They rae more careful now than ever to ensure paints are safe. How many chemicals does oil paint gloss home decorating paint contain?
toluene, xylene.normal butyle acetate and cotton flakes are the main ingredients that make up the base resin for oil/gloss paints,in production these chemicals are low risk to both humans and animals these days due to the new goverment environmental polocies that are in place now............lead is banned now and has been for many years, this used to be a key ingredient in paints,i worked in a production plant for 8 years and employees get medically examed every 3 months due to the very small amount of fumes and toxins being breathed in,no one i now had any problems...emulsion paints are all water based products these days with again cotton flakes added to thicken along with another chemical called ammonia(the one that smells of wet nappies),this paint is totally harmless these days and most good firms are now producing water based glosses instead of the chemically based ones, technology is changing all the time and at a fast rate, which is good news for us and the environment we live in,tho my opinion is we as a country are doing our utmost in reducing harmful emissions and gases and feel we are up there with the best, however with countries like usa, china worlds largest poluters i feel its a little too late in the day to save our planet, the damage has already been done, hope this is of some help to you,,,,good question by the way
