When painting, is it okay to use paint and charcoal? Would oil paints be the best if used in the same picture?

i want to make a painting with charcoal and paint, but i dont know how it would look. Good or bad idea? Any alternatives? Thanks :DWhen painting, is it okay to use paint and charcoal? Would oil paints be the best if used in the same picture?
Charcoal is often used to draw out the initial layout of an oil painting, but if you want to preserve the black outline you will have to spray on fixative over the charcoal drawing before you put on the oil or acrylic, otherwise the charcoal will be too fragile. You don't want to put fixative over the paint. When painting, is it okay to use paint and charcoal? Would oil paints be the best if used in the same picture?
Try painting some samples to see how it works. Oil paints will hold up better over time and you can clean them.
people often put charcoal as the base of the drawing. I agree with the person who said to spray a fixative first.
