Is simply using linseed oil, mineral spirits, and paint alright for glazing an oil painting?

Also, which colors are normally applied, to make the painting look more luminous. Are there any specific brush sizes that are good for glazing? Is simply using linseed oil, mineral spirits, and paint alright for glazing an oil painting?
Luminous can be achieved in different ways. You can do it using specific colors in conjunction with one another. The actual colors depend on the composition. Being that you have mentioned glazing you could also be referring to the paint quality.

For glazing, keep the paint thicker and more opaque. Avoid overly thinned and transparent layers. This is a mythical approach to glazing that produces inferior results. You do not need to use any medium. The under-layer must be dry to the touch before adding the glazing layer.

With bodied paint (not diluted) apply the glazing layer to the areas you wish to effect. Use a Flat brush to wipe out the paint layer exposing varying amounts of the under-layer. This can range from subtle to dramatic. You can repeat this technique once the layer dries gradually building up and refining the depth.
